Ten years¡¯ endeavor to cultivate authoritative smart card exhibitions in China
The 10th International Fair of Smart Cards, China & China£¨Beijing£©RFID International Summits was held at China International Exhibition Center, Beijing from May 10-12, 2007. Over 200 smart card and RFID enterprises from more than ten countries including France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, the U.S., Britain, Malaysia, and Switzerland participated the grand gathering. The exhibition covered an area of 9,000 m2. During the event, more than 50 high-level and high-quality forums on smart card and RFID were held. Keynote speeches at opening ceremony, EMV migration and small-amount payment forum, smart card security forum, smart label manufacturing forum, and China£¨Beijing£©RFID International Summits attracted more than 1,000 industry users, experts, scholars, and vendors' representatives. Government officials from Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Information Industry, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Railway, People¡¯s Bank of China, China Unionpay, the Customs General Administration, China National Tourism Administration, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and related departments of Beijing Municipal Government addressed the forum and visited the exhibition with keen interest.

Great Market Prospects with Infinite Development Opportunities
China¡¯s IC card application and industry has got into a new stage. Application has grown mature, and the industry chain has perfected. IC card is now applied in numerous fields. The market pattern dominated by government projects has taken shape. According to authoritative statistics, by the end of 2006, a total of 3 billion cards had been issued in China, including 1.01 billion mobile phone IC cards, 890 million public phone cards, 398 million second-generation ID cards, 148 million campus cards, 67 million social security cards, 77 million transportation IC cards, and 674 million other types of IC cards, Sales revenue of IC cards came to 7.4 billion yuan.

As one of the most promising information technologies in this century, RFID technology has received great attention in the global industry. During the 14 years since China¡¯s golden card project was launched, extensive application of IC cards has been promoted, providing huge market space and rare opportunities for China¡¯s smart label industry. According to surveys conducted by a relevant agency, in 2006 China¡¯s RFID market was worth 1.6 billion yuan. It is expected to exceed 8 billion yuan in 2008.
China¡¯s flourishing smart card and RFID markets will bring unprecedented development space and opportunities for domestic and overseas smart card and RFID vendors.
